Choosing Cookie Settings

Cookies and browser storage can remember choices. They are separate from the temporary page state used to prepare your simulator brief.

What these technologies do

A cookie is a small value stored by a browser and sent with relevant requests to a website. Local storage holds values on a device for a site and is not automatically sent with every request. Both can be used to remember preferences; neither is needed simply to display an ordinary static page.

Different rules apply according to purpose. Storage strictly necessary to provide a service requested by a user may not require consent. Optional analytics, advertising and similar non-essential technologies generally require prior consent where applicable.

The editorial pages and brief tool

The editorial page code and brief-tool script do not set cookies or write your brief to local storage or session storage. Navigation state and the generated preview exist temporarily in the open page. The site code includes no analytics library, advertising tracker, embedded player or external font service.

Copy Brief accesses the clipboard only after you activate the button. Download Brief creates a local text file only after you activate Download Brief. These are requested actions, not advertising cookies. Browser form restoration, clipboard synchronisation and downloaded-file backups are controlled by your browser, device and any services you choose to use.

Consent controls

Any site-level consent controls presented separately should identify their purposes and available choices. Accepting optional storage is not required to read these room studies or prepare a local brief. Declining optional purposes should not prevent those core functions. Where a consent preference is remembered, its purpose is to retain your choice rather than the text of your brief.

Use the site’s consent controls when available to change optional choices. Clearing this site’s stored data in your browser also removes locally remembered settings and may cause a preference prompt to appear again. A preference record and any associated retention details should be explained in the controls that create it.

Manage storage in your browser

Your browser’s privacy settings usually let you inspect site data, block cookies, clear existing storage and control clipboard permissions. Search its settings for “site data”, “cookies” or “permissions”. Controls vary between browsers and devices. Deleting a cookie does not necessarily delete local storage, downloaded files or email copies.

Blocking all storage may affect separately provided preference controls or other sites you visit. It does not change how your email provider handles a message that you choose to send. Private browsing may limit persistence but is not a guarantee that no records exist on your device or network.
